This workshop will focus on providing clear explanations concerning the aetiology and pathophysiology of pathological or non-pathological scars, fibrosis, adhesions, densification and healing. The workshop is most suited to qualified experienced manual therapists. The therapeutic efficacy of bodywork therapy, specific to scars and adhesions, and its effect on human tissue has been, to date, poorly understood. Medically qualified professionals wish to work with manual therapists that provide soft tissue interventions that are safe, appropriate, effective, and science based.
The workshop is supported by short keynote presentations concerning current research and evidence based therapeutic interventions. Most of the time is spent developing manual palpatory tactile skills and soft tissue interventions for therapeutic success. With three therapists to a table there will be ample time for comparison, support, feedback and learning.
The structure of this workshop will comprise a mixture of tactile, visual and auditory learning. Unique cadaver images will support the hands-on practicums. Both presenters have in-depth anatomical and manual therapy experience. Workshop content includes introducing the participants to advanced myofascial anatomy (informed by biotensegrity), evaluation and treatment of the connective tissue systems.
The overarching goal will be to share with you how normal day-to-day function is changed by interference with the fascial and connective tissue anatomy. By understanding how various systems interlink to determine function, we can explore new globally focused integrated treatment strategies as a tool in relieving the distress of chronic pain.
After this two-day workshop, participants should have advanced their understanding concerning:
